Man arrested and charged with shooting 3 people

Law enforcement officers in North Carolina recently arrested a man for his alleged involvement in a shooting. Three people were injured in the incident. The accused has since been charged with various felony-level offenses.

What happened?

According to reports, police were summoned to Willow Haven Lane in northeast Charlotte at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 25. When they arrived, they found three people with gunshot wounds. All three were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Two of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries, while the third victim’s injuries were said to be less severe.

The accused

Not too long after the shooting occurred, a highway patrolman initiated a traffic stop on Interstate 85. The driver — a 22-year-old male — had reportedly committed a traffic violation warranting the stop. Upon investigating the matter, evidence was supposedly obtained that tied the man to the shooting, so he was arrested and transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. He has since been charged with assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury, intent to kill, injury to personal property and firing a weapon within city limits.

Defense

The charges in this case are serious, and the accompanying consequences, if convicted, can be significant and may include incarceration, fines and probation — among various others. Thankfully, the accused does have the right to defend himself. An experienced criminal defense attorney can help him navigate the North Carolina criminal court system and do all that is necessary to seek the best outcome possible.
